Dantonbury Phase 4, OSHAWA
Challenge: Environmentally Sensitive
This project was one of the last phases of Dantonbury, home of the Windfield Farm which produced the famous Northern Dancer thoroughbred racehorse, winner of the 1964 Kentucky Derby. Northern Dancer’s grave is located adjacent to the site.
This project had a 10-12m deep sanitary trunk sewer that spanned the length of the site.
The installation of the sewer was extremely challenging to complete due to a high water table. It required extensive dewatering in order to both install the sewers and place the liner for the storm water management pond that fed into the environmentally sensitive Oshawa Creek.
Niran was able to remain sensitive to the environmental concerns and deliver the project as required.
